Kusamono w/ Young Choe

Young Choe is a kusamono artist who combined formal art training in Korea with horticultural studies in the United States, discovering her focus while volunteering at the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum. After further study in Japan under master artist Keiko Yamane, she built a career with the U.S. National Arboretum and is now recognized internationally for her workshops, lectures, and leadership in the art of kusamono.

  • Morning Demonstration (2 hrs)

    • Young will give an overview of the principals of kusamono and how she chooses which plants to use together

  • Afternoon Workshop (3 hrs)

    • Plant material:

      • Plants suitable for kusamono will be available to purchase from Young Choe and from the club

      • Participants are also welcome to shop at garden centers in advance (just be aware that some of your purchases may turn out to be unsuitable for kusamono)
