The workshop material will be Shimpaku juniper (a cultivar of Juniperus chinensis) grown locally by another former president, Bob Downey. This is an extremely popular variety for bonsai because of the beautiful foliage. Actually, there are a number of reasons why it is so good for bonsai; if you don't know, this is a great opportunity to find out!
